Lava

Lava is stone produced by volcanic action. Crushed lava is used as an inorganic component of bonsai soil because it is light and slow to break down. Crushing lava produces a lot of fines which may need to be sifted. Lava used for a bonsai soils are usually graded from around 1/8 inch to 3/16 inch.
Lava comes in different colors according to its chemical makeup.
