Talk:Buttonwood

From BonsaiWIKI

I only had a Buttonwood for a couple of years, so I am far from knowledgeable about these trees. I got mine from Miami Tropical. Joe, who was the proprietor, I think, said that Buttonwoods can lose their leaves in colder climates. So, would that make it semi-deciduous, or is it still an evergreen with a strange fail-safe mechanism?

Regards,

Matt

I still have not read the Users Guide, so I am not sure if this is the propor way to reply to your question. Buttonwood's growth, as with most tropicals, will slow down in the winter. If the temperatures are low enough, it will drop many of its leaves from stress.

Thanks Charles, replying here is fine. It would take a long time to read that User's Guide!
