Roots are the specialized structures of higher plants which grow beneath the soil line and make up the root system of a bonsai
- 1. absorb water and nutrients from the soil they also secure the plant in place to prevent it from being dislocated by wind or erosion.
- 2. are also capable of storing starch, which is created by the plant as a food source.
- 3. anchor the plant securely in the ground.
