Mail list

Mail lists precede the Internet historically, and consist of a group of individuals who communicate with one another by email rather than posting to a forum. Like forums, mail lists typically have a common topic of interest, and members can join and leave the list at will.

Mail lists still remain active. One is the IBC mail list, otherwise known as REC.ARTS.BONSAI. Sometimes a program or service called a news reader is required to read or post to these lists.
