Dennis Makishima

Dennis Makishima is located in the East Bay area of Northern California.
He is well known for his expertise with Japanese Maple and Japanese Black Pine. Dennis is also past President of Golden State Bonsai Federation, and his legacy includes "wiring" all the affiliate clubs of California with web sites and championing a process of bonsai training called "Bonsai Basics Classes" that the clubs still employ today. That effort focused on training instructors and providing lesson materials. Dennis himself participated in a apprentice program in Japan under bonsai master, Yasuo Mitsuya.
Dennis is a tireless teacher that is always willing to help a club out with a program. Since retiring from GSBF, Dennis has been dedicated to his own activities, which a personal collection of over 400 bonsai and a landscaping business specializing in artistic pruning of garden trees.
