Logging in
You may wish to create your own account here in the bonsaiWIKI. It will help you to keep track of your own edits and make it easier to see what has become of your contributions. You can do that by clicking the Login link at the upper right of the screen. Then you can set up your preferences.
Editing
- Most pages in the dictionary can be edited. Exceptions are the main page and a few special pages. You can always click the Discuss this page link in the left hand menu to add a remark. When you click Edit This Page, a window will come up with the raw text, which you can edit to your liking.
- You will see a menu bar that has some icons that will let you create bold, italic or underlined text, or change the font size. See "Creating Links," below.
- ALWAYS click "Show Preview" before submitting the page formally with the Save Page link. Make sure the page is how you want it. Every time you click Save Page, a new version will be stored, even if you only changed one character.
Non-Existent Pages
- This link will take you to pages that are currently non-existent, but have been referenced in other parts of the directory. This is a good place to start your contributions:
Creating Links
- It's simple when editing to create a link. Just surround the word or words that you are linking from with a set of double square brackets [[YOUR TEXT HERE]] in the editor. Then when the page is saved it will turn into a hotlink to the WIKI entry for that term.
- If the term already exists, the user who clicks that link will be redirected to that page. If it doesn't exist, they'll see a page inviting them to create one. A link to this page would read like this: [[Contributor Notes]]
Adding Comments
- If you have a comment about a page in the bonsaiWIKI, you can click the Discuss this Page link in the left side menu.
