Conifers are a group of trees and shrubs that bear cones. They are mainly evergreen species, with a few notable exceptions, like Dawn Redwood, Bald Cypress and Larch. Most conifers have needles or scales rather than broad leaves. Other conifers commonly used for bonsai include juniper, spruce, and pine trees.
