Bonsai not using water
From BonsaiWIKI
One way to judge the health of your bonsai is by assessing how much water it is using. Deciduous trees don't use much water when they lose their leaves in autumn, but they will use a little. Even conifers will slow down, particularly as the soil gets closer to freezing.
But if it's still in leaf, you should expect your tree to have a regular thirst for water. If it stops drinking, you'll know that there is something wrong, possibly with the root system.
