A bit is a carving tool that fits in the chuck of a drill or die grinder. Spinning at high speed, the bit can grind away bark and wood to create holes, grooves and ridges.

Bits can include sanding wheels and wire discs for polishing and removing bark or high-speed carbide burrs for removing wood.
