Automach is a Japanese company best known for its reciprocating carver, a power tool that consists of a small impact chisel. The tool contains an electric motor that sets up oscillations that drive the cutting head at up to 10,000 impacts per minute. Various attachments, including gouge, chisel and veining tool are available that fit into tool's chuck, and tighten with a small wrench.
The tools are lightweight, comfortable and safe, because the pressure required on the cutting head is minimized. Because it is unnecessary to drive the chisel with a separate handheld hammer, two hands can be used for control.
